CASTERS, TALC BOTTLES AND PEPPERETTES
THREE CENTURIES OF SILVER SHAKERS
Some time ago I looked to the glassfronted cabinet in my
lounge after buying a small silver pepperette (London 1810) and
realized that, in my unawareness, I had assembled a small
collection of silver shakers.
Casters, pepperettes, wig powderers, talc bottles scattered on
the shelves waited a neater arrangement.
The shakers range from the middle of the 18th century to the
middle of the 20th century:
200 years of history in seven small silver pieces.
